In the story of Magpie & Kin, Saturday began with a thermos of coffee, a folded map, and someone calling from the driveway, “Come on. The good things won’t find themselves.”
The family never agreed on what counted as treasure. Dad looked for clever mechanisms. Mum followed beautiful lines. The children searched for anything with a secret compartment. At flea markets, estate sales, and shops with crooked signs, they wandered different aisles and somehow always found one another.
They brought their discoveries home to the long kitchen table: a camera that needed patience, a record player waiting for its next song, a chair with a beautiful shape beneath a tired finish. They cleaned, researched, repaired what they could, and learned when a piece deserved an expert’s hands.
Their favorite moment was never finding something cheap. It was the moment an overlooked object became someone’s favorite thing.
That is the spirit behind our collection. An eye for what others pass by. Respect for what a piece has been. And the hope that its best chapter might still be ahead.
Find it. Care for it. Pass the wonder on.
